Empowering the Next Generation: Career Inspiration Day with The Lego Group

Empowering young people from underrepresented groups is central to our mission at The Black Society. Through our Same As Me Foundation, we are dedicated to helping young people explore new career possibilities and unlock their potential.

Recently, in collaboration with The Lego Group UK, we hosted a Career Inspiration Day at their London HQ, a transformative experience for students from Lilian Baylis Sixth Form College. This event allowed these young people to get a firsthand look at the inner workings of Lego, learning about various career paths, and gaining valuable insights into the company’s culture.

The day was packed with interactive sessions, where students were able to engage in activities that brought different departments of the company to life. They explored the hashtag #BehindTheBricks, got a taste of Lego’s dynamic work environment, and, most importantly, heard directly from Lego employees about their career journeys and advice on career readiness.

At The Black Society, our goal is to introduce young people to roles and industries they may not have considered before. It was inspiring to witness the curiosity and enthusiasm of the students as they asked thoughtful questions and interacted with experienced professionals from across the company.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to The Lego Group for hosting such an engaging and impactful event. Special thanks also go to Lilian Baylis Sixth Form College for partnering with us and providing their students with this valuable opportunity. The open dialogue between the students and Lego’s team was a unique chance for the next generation to broaden their horizons.

Lastly, we would like to express our gratitude to our trustees, Rachel Glean-Dumbrell and Carl Reid, for their leadership and dedication in bringing this program to life.

If you’re a corporate partner interested in creating similar opportunities for young people or work with youth in education or community organizations, we would love to hear from you.
