Empowering young people from underrepresented groups is central to our mission.
As part of our Same As Me Foundation programme which supports this priority, we worked with The Lego Group UK to deliver a brilliant Career Inspiration Day at their London HQ.
This career day was attended by young people from Lillian Baylis Sixth Form College who got to hear about the career journeys of Lego employees, career readiness, and participated in tasks that helped to bring areas of the company to life. The young people got to explore #BehindtheBricks and get a sense of the company culture. As well as hear from The Black Society on our mission to empower young people on their journey into employment, and expose them to roles and business areas that they may have never considered before.
With so many career paths to choose from, it was so great to hear all of the young people’s questions, and to see the way this setting allowed them to ask detailed questions to experienced staff from all levels of the business – such a fantastic, impactful opportunity for them all!
Special thanks to The Lego Group for hosting and creating such an engaging agenda. Thank you to Lilian Baylis Sixth Form College for trusting us and allowing us to arrange this quality time between The Lego Group and their students for such honest and open dialogue. It was great to hear what the young people wanted to know.
Finally, a big thank you to our Trustees Rachel Glean-Dumbrell and Carl Reid, for spearheading this important programme and all the work it took to make the day a success.
If you would like to be one of our corporate partners and provide a similar opportunity for young people, or if you work with young people in education or at a youth organisation and you would like us to invite your young people on a future career day, please get in touch via direct message or email.
